Toki Rapa Nui

The ONG Toki Rapa Nui was formed so that children and young people from Rapa Nui (Easter Island) could develop their talents without having to leave their marvellous island. The organisation offers free classes in piano, ukulele, violin, cello, musical theory, ancestral singing, hook takona and Rapa Nui dance to more than 80 children.

The school (covering 750 square meters) was built with the help of more than 400 volunteers from all over the world. It was based on the "Earthship" model by architect Michael Reynolds and used recycled materials such as 1,500 tyres, 30,000 cans, 20,000 bottles, 12 tons of cardboard and more than six tons of plastic.
The building, which is self-supporting and autonomous, has an organic vegetable garden in its grounds. In 2015, it won the National Environmental Prize given by the newspaper El Mercurio, the Universidad Católica de Chile and Fundación Recyclápolis.

We invite you to be part of the TOKI dream and to help maintain our music and Rapa Nui culture classes for children and young people living on Chile"s Easter Island!
